The Future is Binary – On June 25, 2014 shortly before 1:00 p.m. the BPS Street Crimes Unit observed a man driving a vehicle on Chatham Street and recognized him as a man who was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

The driver/accused was wanted on a warrant for Assault with a Weapon & Assault Causing Bodily Harm, stemming from an incident on May 27, 2014. The accused was also wanted on a warrant for failing to appear in court on June 6, 2014. The Street Crimes Unit, Beat Officers, Community Patrol Officers and K9 unit coordinated a plan to conduct a safe traffic stop with this vehicle. Three marked cruisers conducted a rolling traffic stop where cruisers positioned themselves in front of the suspect vehicle at the rear of the suspect vehicle and right along the driver’s side of the vehicle so the driver could not exit the vehicle and run away. The suspect vehicle came to a stop next to a curb on Chatham Street. As the Officers approached the suspect vehicle the vehicle reversed slightly and maneuvered forward up on the sidewalk across a couple front lawns of residences and fled at a high rate of speed on the sidewalk and then east bound on Chatham Street. The accused lost control of the vehicle and struck a hydro pole on Chatham Street. The accused fled from the vehicle on foot. All Officers involved set up containment in strategic areas around the neighbourhood and the K9 team of Cst Nagy and Ranger as well as a Beat Officer who is also a member of our Emergency Response Team conducted an open area search within the contained area. BPS K9 Ranger led officers to a fenced in backyard on Park Road North. The accused was found attempting to evade police by hiding in a backyard. He was arrested without incident on the outstanding warrant.

A female passenger in the vehicle received a minor injury from the collision and was treated and released from Hospital.

Jason Mark Donald BOUTILIER, 33 yrs, of Peel Street is also charged with;

Dangerous Driving, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
Flight from Police, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
Driving while suspended, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
