The Future is Binary – Saskatoon Police Service Patrol officers responded to a domestic violence call in the 1400 block of Cumberland Ave at approximately 11:00 p.m., July 5, 2014.
During the dispatch, officers were informed that an adult female was holding a knife to her own throat. It was also known that there were two toddlers at the scene and two other adults. While officers were dealing with the female at the scene of the incident, a physical altercation ensued during which the female was holding a scalpel type of knife. The officers tried to disarm her; however, they were not successful. One officer then deployed a CEW which allowed the officers to disarm her and place her under arrest.
As a precaution, the arrested female was taken to the hospital to be assessed. She was then transported to detention where she will be held until seen by a JP on Sunday morning.
She will be charged with:
• Carrying a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public peace.
• Resisting arrest.
• Possessing a controlled substance under the CDSA.
